Being over 40 there are a lot of things I am really proud of and a basic resume does not give room to talk about my passions. And the passions are basically what makes me, me. There is only so much you can put on a one sided piece of paper.
A resume is a shorter-form document that provides a concise overview of your previous roles, skills and details about your education.
When you apply for a job do you customize your resume to the requirements of the job?
Well, you should! Read the job description and list of duties, thinking how your skills and background give you the experience for the job.
Most resumes in the States are based on capability to perform the job duties.
A detailed document highlighting your professional and academic history. Comprehensive (and often lengthy) listing of one’s education, certifications, research experience, and professional affiliations and memberships.
Resumes and CVs are not interchangeable. You can ask the employer if they are interested in seeing your CV. If the employer is unaware of what a CV is, enlighten them and encourage them to take a look. I am certain with the way the world is changing everyone should create a CV. The best thing about a CV is that you don't have to change anything for each job. Unless the common things like name or address need to be updated. You are just sending it in addition to their application process. And remember that you just keep adding your accomplishments and experiences.
